Tusk Strategies Adds Cristóbal Alex, Former White House Deputy Cabinet Secretary to President Biden, to Growing Nationwide Team
Building off a decade of guiding the world’s fastest-growing start-ups through major regulatory and public affairs challenges, today, Tusk Strategies announced it has hired Cristóbal Alex as a Managing Director, who is joining the firm following nearly a year and a half of service to President Joe Biden as White House Deputy Cabinet Secretary. Alex is also joining Pericles — a new Tusk Holdings company — which works with early stage startups solely in return for equity, and will play a key role in advising Tusk Philanthropies efforts on mobile voting and ending child hunger.
Alex will build on the firm’s success in creating and executing interdisciplinary campaigns for the world’s leading disruptors in tech, finance, transportation, healthcare, and countless other industries, helping them build their brands with thought leadership and earned media, gain market share with cutting edge commercial strategies, and solve complex regulatory challenges in markets across the globe.
Prior to his service as White House Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Cristóbal served as a Senior Advisor to candidate Joe Biden throughout the 2020 presidential campaign, and the President-Elect’s Transition Committee. In 2014, he helped launch the Latino Victory Fund as Founding President.
Cristóbal will create and execute strategies in every area of public affairs, including public policy and advocacy, public relations, building partnerships for the firm and its clients, and growing the firm’s nationwide reach by launching a Washington D.C. office alongside Executive Vice President Kristina Howard.
Tusk Strategies was founded by venture capitalist, philanthropist and political strategist Bradley Tusk and is now led by CEO Chris Coffey.
“As the work we do continues to get more and more complex, having Cristóbal on our team to advise our consulting clients, our equity for services clients and our efforts to both get every state to adopt universal school meals and to make mobile voting technologically and politically possible is exactly what we need. I’m so excited he’s here,” said Founder Bradley Tusk.
“We’re incredibly excited Cristóbal is joining our team,” said Tusk Strategies CEO Chris Coffey. “His experience in politics, talents as a political strategist and public affairs insight will be invaluable to the entire Tusk team as our firm continues to grow and take on new challenges across the country.”
