Matt Homer is a Senior Advisor to Tusk Strategies and a full-time investor and advisor to early stage companies operating in the cryptocurrency space. He was previously the primary regulator for many of the country’s latest cryptocurrency firms. Matt has been in the fintech space for over a decade, working in various roles at the intersection of technology, finance, policy, and social impact.

Currently an Executive in Residence at Nyca Partners, a fintech venture capital firm, Matt  invests in companies that are mainstreaming the digital asset economy and bridging the gap between crypto and traditional finance.  Prior to entering the venture capital space, Matt founded and ran the Research and Innovation Division at the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS), where he led efforts involving fintech, crypto, insurtech, and regtech. In that role, he also oversaw the Department’s licensing and supervision of crypto currency companies.

Additionally, Matt chaired the Conference of State Bank Supervisor’s FinTech Steering Group. Before that, Matt was Head of Policy and Research at Quovo, which was acquired by Plaid during his tenure. Earlier, Matt was with the FDIC and launched two innovation programs with USAID, promoting cashless payments and regtech knowledge-sharing among regulators. He has also served as advisor on regulatory and fintech innovation to the U.N., World Bank, Aspen Institute and Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance.
