Matthew leads regulatory affairs at Tusk. In his role, he serves as the day-to-day lead on client service, regulatory engagement, and strategic counsel for Tusk clients. Prior to his current role, Matthew was the Senior Vice President of global communications and public affairs, at Laureate Education, Inc. Laureate is the world’s largest higher education company with more than 1,000,000 students and a network of 70 campus-based and online institutions in 25 countries. Matthew successfully oversaw all internal and external communications, public relations, public affairs and strategic outcomes analysis and research initiatives for the global organization. Prior to joining Laureate in 2011, Matt served as Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. In this capacity, he served as a senior advisor to the Secretary on policy and strategic planning and held general management responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the 4,200-person Department. Before joining the Obama Administration, Matthew worked at Ariel Investments from April 2001 through January 2009. As Vice President of Public Affairs, he directed the firm’s civic, government, and political affairs. Prior to his work at Ariel Investments, Matthew worked as an analyst for the Chicago based investment banking firm Billow Butler & Company.
Matthew earned his BA in Political Science from Northwestern University and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is based out of our Miami office and lives with his wife and two children.
