Chris Coffey has been the CEO of Tusk Strategies since 2021. Before taking over for the firm’s founder, Bradley Tusk, he ran dozens of successful political & legislative campaigns as head of the New York and New Jersey Practice.

Both in New York and across the country, Chris specializes in creating major media campaigns that dominate news coverage, shift public opinion and influence policymakers at every level of government.

Under his leadership, Tusk has launched offices in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Albany, and built a first-of-its-kind Advanced Tech Practice that specializes in FinTech regulatory issues. Over the past five years, the firm has secured major wins for clients, including the Citizens fight – led by TransPerfect Employees – to reform Delaware’s judicial system, clearing the way for the Metropolitan Park Casino, leading the charge on expanding film and TV production tax credits in California and New York, running high-profile Independent Expenditure campaigns against policymakers opposed to clean energy, and securing BitLicenses for several of the world’s largest crypto companies.

An expert in New York City politics, Chris has also guided several successful campaigns for Speaker of the City Council, helped run campaigns for mayor during the 2021 and 2025 elections, and currently advises several prominent NYC Members of Congress and civic leaders such as Rev. Al Sharpton.

Prior to Tusk, Chris worked for NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg for 12 years during his time at City Hall, including on Mike’s three Mayoral campaigns and at Bloomberg L.P. While in City government, Chris helped create the NYC Digital Office at the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and co-authored the Roadmap for the Digital City, which Mayor Bloomberg unveiled as the nation’s first ever digital blueprint for city government. He also served as First Deputy Commissioner of the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit, where he helped manage the Mayor’s community relationships across the five boroughs.

Chris currently serves as the Chair of the Boards of Women in Need (WIN) and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Chris was born and raised in New York City and now lives in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn with his husband and their two children.
